Make Barry N Silberg, M.D., F.A.C.S. your choice when evaluating facelift Santa Rosa CA providers. A facelift can produce dramatic results, but choosing an experienced provider is essential. This is a major, precise, and delicate procedure. Dr. Silberg has over 30 years of cosmetic surgery experience, and strives to stay on top of recent developments in the field. This dedication and experience has earned him certification by the American Board of Plastic Surgery. If you are considering facial plastic surgery to restore a more youthful appearance, including eyelid surgery, nose surgery, or a brow lift, contact Dr. Silberg for a free consultation.
It is important to understand that a facelift will not change your fundamental appearance nor will it stop the aging process. A facelift is a surgical procedure. Other facelift-type procedures such as a Thread Lift, Mini Facelift, Lifestyle Life, Weekend Lift, or Vertical Lift are less invasive, but they cannot achieve the same results, nor will they last as long. If you are not quite ready for a facelift, Dr. Silberg offers some very effective non-surgical options, such as dermal fillers or BOTOX, which can offer impressive results until such time that a more extensive procedure, such as a facelift, becomes a more appropriate option to achieve your aesthetic goals.
When choosing a surgeon for any procedure, look for experience first. Dr. Silberg has honed his technique over thousands of surgeries, both cosmetic and reconstructive, and has stayed on the cutting edge of developments in his field. Currently, outside of his thriving plastic and cosmetic surgery practice, he still performs complex reconstructive surgery at Santa Rosa Memorial Hospital and has several terms as their Chief of Plastic Surgery. Put this experience and dedication to work for you.

Candidates for Facelift (Rhytidectomy) Surgery
You are a good candidate for a facelift if you are troubled by:
- sagging in the middle or lower part of of your face
- deep creases below the lower eyelids or along the nose extending to the corner of the mouth
- the formation of jowls, loose skin and/or fat under the chin (double chin)
- the general loss of a youthful appearance due to stress or other factors
As with any surgical procedure, it’s a big plus for candidates who are non-smokers and who maintain good habits for nutrition and fitness.
Procedure for Facelift Surgery (Rhytidectomy)
Dr. Silberg will do your facelift under conscious sedation that will be administered by an anesthesiologist in our accredited surgical facility.
The method Dr. Silberg uses for your facelift will largely depend on the degree of change that will be made and your particular anatomy. There are three types of incisions that can be used: 1) a traditional facelift incision; 2) a limited incision; and 3) a neck lift incision.
The type of incisions used will be based on your individual situation. During the facelift, fat and tissue may be redistributed and deeper layers of the face and muscles are lifted. Skin is redraped and excess skin is trimmed away. Sutures and/or skin adhesives are used to close the incisions.
The incision lines from the facelift will be well concealed within the hairline and in the natural contours of the face and ear.
You must have a ride home after your surgery and you should plan on having someone stay with you through the first day.
Recovery from Facelift Surgery (Rhytidectomy)
After your procedure, you will be taken into recovery and carefully monitored. A bandage might be placed around your face for support to minimize swelling and bruising. A thin tube may be temporarily placed to drain any excess fluid that may collect under the skin. You will need to keep your head straight and elevated to minimize swelling.
Before leaving, you will be given specific instructions for aftercare and follow-up. After you have gone home, Dr. Silberg will be available 24/7 to respond to any concerns should they arise.
You should plan for restricted activity for three weeks to a month.
