During the period cited, Captain SILBERG distinguished himself by meritorious service while a member of Headquarters and Headquarters Company, 2d Battalion, 51st Infantry, 4th Armored Division. As Battalion Surgeon, Captain SILBERG’s tireless efforts and sincere interest insured exceptional medical service for all personnel regardless of situational changes between field and garrison. His superior medical knowledge and conscientious manner was instrumental in the extremely effective training he gave his medical personnel in their diverse responsibilities. Captain SILBERG’s professionalism and attention to detail were evident when his section achieved an outstanding rating on the unit’s Annual General Inspection. In addition to his normal duties, Captain SILBERG served as an invaluable liaison between American and foreign military personnel. Of particular importance in this capacity was his clearly outstanding performance during the NATO Exercise Olympic Express. His intense dedication to his position inspired confidence in his patients and the respect of his subordinates and peers alike. Captain SILBERG’s truly professional performance of duty was in the best tradition of the military service and reflects great credit upon himself, the 4th Armored Division and the United States Army.
